Designing Websites that are easy to use
All of our sites conform to W3C guidelines and the Disabilities and Discrimination Act.
We have also introduced some other aspects of usability and techniques that make our sites search engine friendly.
Five Key Pages
The following pages should be included in all websites:-
- Home Obviously your site must have a home page
- About Us This section helps establish credibility, it is an opportunity for you to sell your company, staff, awards and so on that make you different.
- FAQ Often overlooked becuase it can be difficult to write, Frequently Asked Questions are just that. They can help site visitors establish facts for themselves about your business and make sales easier as well as put off time wasters.
- Sitemap Essential for tying the pages of your site together. If you are finding the Internet a useful business tool, your pages will grow. If you want to expand your website over time a sitemap can be vital to help returning visitors find the informaiton they are looking for.
- Contact Us This page usually includes a form so people can contact you online.
Navigation
Users of websites expect certain pages to be in certain places. For example, the Contact Us page is usually the last in the navigation list.
We aim to keep the content clear and simple. Good content will help people find your site via the search engines but it's also what keeps them on your site and encourages them to return again.
