Link Building
Links can be added anywhere to attract visitors, but by being selective significant rewards can be gained.
The Art Lab can do as much or as little of this for you as you want, however the key point is to keep building links to keep your marketing fresh and active.
Effective Links
- are seen by people interested in your product or service
- are supported by text and images encouraging them to click on your link
- link to a directly relevant page on your website
I have split the remainder of these into simple groups:
- Basic
- Intermediate
- Advanced
Basic First Steps
- Make sure all your business to business partners link to you.
- Register with main and minor directories and search engines.
- Consider Pay Per Click
Business to Business Partners
These are the most effective links for driving relevant traffic to your website and will deliver the quickest results:-
- Say your business is to build and install sheds.
- ABC Shed Retailers sell sheds and refer customers to you who cannot install a shed themselves. ABC Shed Retailer benefits by selling a shed they would not have sold and you benefit by having a new job to do.
- Since you already have a business relationship witb ABC Shed Retailers, you should ask them for a link on your website saying, "If you would like your shed building, we recommend using XYZ Shed Builders, please visit www.XYZ_Shed_Builders.co.uk for further information"
Recommendation: Draw up a list of all your business partners and ask for relevant links to your website and RECIPROCATE, you should have a link on your website saying,
"We build sheds for:-
ABC Shed Retailers - www.ABC_Shed_Retailers.co.uk
Etc
Etc
"
This page will also help build credibility for your business since you are trusted by retailers (other professionals) and you are also offering a link back to your business partner.
We recommend you do this yourself, but you can select our XYZ product and we can do this for you as well as combine the information with other promotional activities.
Register with Search Engines and Directories
The obvious are search engines where you simply list your web address. These are Google, Yahoo and Microsoft's "Search", but Lycos, Alta Vista and so on are still going strong and should all be registered with.
This is a start but will not gain you much traffic until the rest of your web presence is built.
Directories include basic business directories, local directories and so on. Examples include: Applegate, Touch Local, UK Business Directory, etc. These usually ask for more information such as business contact details, a description of your business (products or services) and may categorise you into a business sector or geographic region.
You will get some traffic from these but typically 0-3 hits per month from each. Don't dismiss this as trivial, because if each registration ultimately leads to one piece of business a year, once you have done 100 registrations, you will get around 100 pieces of business each year. In other words, each link builds your business presense online but slowly.
You can do this yourself however we can cover a comprehensive suite of sites for you and build links to your website in the best possible manner.
Pay Per Click Adverts
Most famous of all is Google Ads. These are basically cost effective Classified Adverts; you only pay for people visiting your website (clicking on the link) and you do not pay for your advert to be displayed. This is what makes them so effective. Anyone clicking on them has been filtered and is interested in your product or service.
You can do this yourself but we recommend you select our XYZ product and we will do a comprehensive analysis of the market for you and develop a strategy to deliver results.
