It doesn't matter how many visitors your site has if the website is poor!
Ask yourself this simple question - why has the visitor come to my website? You've paid for the Google Advert, so you should know.
Now ask yourself - does my website give the visitor all the information they require to generate an enquiry?
So what information is required?
- Contact info on every page --> make it easy for them to contact you. After all their internet connection might fail, before they click on your contact page. Make it easy for them.
- Genuine --> Put your full postal address and telephone number in an easy to find place, also add your Companies House no, VAT no etc to add more credibility.
- Credibility --> Go one step further, add an "about us" page saying who you are, testimonials from customers and examples of your work.
- Competition --> They are only a click or two away, you are being vetted so ensure you come across better than they do or at least as well. Adding an FAQ can help (no matter how lame some of the questions are!).
- Pricing --> I am a firm believer in making your charges as clear as possible, by showing your rates and examples. Often, the visitor is looking to see how much your product or service costs before they make a buying decision. If you don't tell them, they will go to a website that does tell them and all your hard work is lost. Furthermore, it deters time wasters from contacting you who aren't prepared to pay the rates you need to charge for your service.
Now close the loop --> once your content is good, make sure you have a consistent method of taking phone calls and emails and hone your skills so you maximise any enquiries that come your way.
The casual assumptive close works very well after a frank and honest exchange of information. At the end of the day if they have contacted you, they have usually decided to buy from you and so you should close over 90% of the calls you take.
